NOESTANGO
The work NOESTANGO is the result of collaboration and interaction with various local artists from theater, dance and music.
It raises a question about tango as an artistic expression, taking into account its glorious past and its present so marked by a cultural industry that strives to keep it intact and with little chance of reinventing itself.
Five dancers searching for their artistic identity in the twilight of tango's popularity. Five musicians who appropriate and bring into their present a canonized and untouchable music. They are united by the question of what to do today with that legacy, of which only nostalgia remains for the once-great music of Buenos Aires and a dance ravaged by the cultural industry.
The show was selected in 2023 for FIBA and the Identidades Festival in the Atacama Desert, Chile. It received a nomination for best choreography at the Trinidad Guevara Awards and won the 2023 Luisa Vehil Award for best musical theater production. It also received numerous grants from various public institutions, including Mecenazgo, Fondo Metropolitano, Prodanza, Fondo Nacional de las Artes, and Mercado de Industrias Culturales Argentinas.
The show NOESTANGO was presented at the Timbre 4 Theater, the Galpón de Guevara Theater, the Borges Cultural Center, and the Metropolitan Theater, all venues in the City of Buenos Aires. The piece received rave reviews, was named among the ten best Argentine dance works of 2023 by the specialized press, and was selected to participate in ISPA 2025 (International Society for the Performing Arts).
